Reading
Each week, your child/children will receive a phonics book which is matched to their phonics understanding and reading ability. These will be changed on a weekly basis, which follows in line with their daily phonics sessions. An alternative reading book will be sent home for 'reading for pleasure'. This is to encourage parents/carers to read on a regular basis with their child/children.
Reading each night will help support your child with their writing and develop their phonic skills. Asking questions about their book, reading a variety of books allows your child to broaden their imagination and provides children a love of reading. The children attend the school library every Monday for reading for pleasure, a time to relax and enjoy a book of their choice.
