During this half term we will be focusing to secure the basic skills of writing building fine motor skills to develop pencil control. We will be supporting formation of letters and writing own names independently. Using our IPC topic within English lessons looking at the traditional tale The Three Little Pigs and non fiction text Emergency! Re-creating stories, exploring characters within the text and looking at features of a non-fiction text.

We encourage children to use their phonic skills to segment (break up each sound) words before writing using their arms to support. Using phonic mats to support phoneme recognition.

If you wish to use a phonic mat at home please speak to a member of Year One Rabbits staff!

Further we ask children to make perfect sentences using finger spaces, full stops and capital letters.
