Marshfield’s Head of School Shortlisted for Headteacher of the Year at T&A Education Awards!

We are incredibly proud to share that Marshfield Headteacher, Zara Kearns,  has been shortlisted for Headteacher of the Year at this year’s Bradford Telegraph and Argus Education Awards.

This recognition follows a series of exceptional achievements for the school over the past year, reflecting the strength of leadership and the dedication of the entire Marshfield community.

In December 2025, Marshfield celebrated outstanding Key Stage 2 results following the publication of the national primary performance tables. For all pupils, Marshfield – alongside Thorpe Primary School, also part of Carlton Academy Trust – was ranked joint third highest performing school in Bradford for average Reading scores, a remarkable accomplishment in a highly competitive local landscape.

In April 2025, the school was rated Outstanding in all areas following its Ofsted inspection – a significant milestone that recognised the quality of education, leadership and management, personal development, behaviour and attitudes, and early years provision across the school.

The school’s culture of excellence has also been recognised beyond pupil outcomes. In Summer 2025, Mr Ali, Marshfield’s Deputy Headteacher, received a Silver Award at the Pearson Teaching Awards, celebrating the strength and depth of leadership within the school.

Together, these achievements reflect a school that is ambitious, nurturing and determined to ensure every child thrives academically and personally.

Zara Kearn said:

“I am incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for this award. This recognition reflects the hard work, passion and commitment of the entire Marshfield team. I am proud to lead a school where staff work tirelessly to provide the very best opportunities for our pupils, and where our children rise to those high expectations every single day”.

The Bradford Telegraph and Argus Education Awards celebrate excellence across education in the district, highlighting schools and individuals who make a lasting difference to their communities.

The winners will be announced later this year, and everyone at Marshfield Primary School is looking forward to celebrating alongside colleagues from across the region!
