School Council

Meet Our School Council

At Marshfield Primary, we believe in empowering our pupils to be leaders, role models, and active contributors to our school community. The School Council is a vital part of this vision, providing children with a platform to voice their ideas, collaborate on initiatives, and foster a sense of responsibility and inclusivity.

What is the School Council?

Our School Council is made up of elected representatives from each year group, chosen for their enthusiasm, commitment, and ability to inspire their peers. These pupils serve as role models and act as approachable advocates for their classmates, ensuring every child’s voice is heard.

Our Key Initiatives

The School Council leads a variety of impactful initiatives, including:

‘Connect Advisors’ Programme: Inspired by our PSHE curriculum, this initiative focuses on six essential well-being behaviours:

    • Connecting with others
    • Challenging oneself
    • Giving to others
    • Exercising
    • Embracing the moment
    • Practising self-care

Selected council members take on advisor roles, supporting pupils with practical tools to promote well-being across the school.

  • Year 6 Sports Leaders Programme: Senior pupils organise engaging lunchtime activities for Key Stage 1 children, encouraging physical activity, teamwork, and a love for sport.

Why the School Council Matters

The School Council is more than just a pupil body it’s a bridge between children, teachers, and the wider school community. By taking on leadership roles, council members develop critical life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork while making a real difference in the lives of their peers.

Hey there, couldn’t help noticing you’re using Internet Explorer

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
