PE and Sports at Marshfield

At Marshfield we believe the human spirit is at the centre of our approach to the teaching of PE, with the belief that all children have the potential to succeed. They should have access to a wide curriculum that inspires, rewards and challenges them through a range of progressions with varied activities, increasing self-confidence through an ability to manage themselves successfully in a variety of situations. It is through our physical selves and actions that our spirits can express themselves most easily and instantly.  Marshfield Primary believes that physical education, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is vital and unique in its contribution to a pupil’s physical and emotional development and health.

Those that continually develop and work with their physical being are, compared to any other group:

  • happier
  • healthier
  • more successful in the worlds of learning and business

(research from the Association of Colleges)

Our curriculum uses PE Passport as a base for our long term plan, combined with the following progression map for Physical Skillfulness (blue text), Decision Making (green text) and vocabulary listed in our PE Policy. See below for more information.
